以色列總理納坦雅胡6日在接受美國廣播公司新聞網（ABC News）訪問時表示，以色列與巴勒斯坦伊斯蘭主義組織哈瑪斯（Hamas）交戰過後，以色列將無限期地擔負起加薩走廊（Gaza Strip）的「全面安全責任」。

法新社和路透社報導，納坦雅胡（Benjamin Netanyahu）在接受ABC News訪問時說，「以色列將無限期地擔負起全面安全責任」。他說：「當這種安全責任不在我們身上的時候，我們面對的就是哈瑪斯恐怖活動以無法想像的規模爆發。」

另外，納坦雅胡還說，除非哈瑪斯釋放人質，否則加薩不會停火。但他說，以色列將會考慮在加薩的戰鬥中實施「戰術上的小停頓」，好讓人道援助進入，或允許哈瑪斯武裝分子扣押的人質離開。

哈瑪斯10月7日突襲以色列，殺害1400人並擄走240名民眾當人質；以色列接著對哈瑪斯控制的加薩發動空襲和地面進攻行動，迄今據報造成至少一萬人喪生。
