The Taiwanese Coast Guard detained 154 rare cats in the smuggling from China, the animal rabies region, to Taiwan, the animal rabies-free region.  The cats are estimated to have a value of US$357,000. 
The law authorizes the government to ruin the smuggling animals.  The cat is an agent carrying the Rabies Virus. 
The animal protection activists petitioned the government to spare the cats.  They claim that the animals have rights too.  They do what they should.
However, Jonny Chiang and Eric Chu, two possible candidates for the KMT Chairperson election, blasted the government despite the law.  They forgot that the KMT criticized earlier the loose rules and malpractice of the quarantine for the pilots, known as the 3+11 policy change that causes the epidemic from May.  So does Ko Wen-Je, Taipei City Mayor.
It is no good thing for our democracy if the opposite party is impotent as such.  It is also not appropriate for the President to ask for the revision of the law, neglecting the risk of the infection.
