Farewell Angela Merkel, a communist member before the break up of the DDR, becomes chancellor of Germany and a distinguished of the democratic world after the unification of Germany.  She obtained a doctorate in quantum chemistry in 1986 and worked as a research scientist until 1989, then a world-class political leader.
It is an extraordinary achievement, except she misunderstands the nature of CCP, no longer honor the view of traditional communists but in pursuit of power instead. 
The fascinating part is the short statement was by Vice President Kamala Harris and Chancellor Merkel purely ceremonial.

However, in responding to a question from a journalist, she expressed: "We talked about China, and there is a lot of common understanding that China, in many areas, is our competitor; that trade with China needs to rest on the assumption that we have a level playing field so that we all play by the same rules, have the same standards. That, incidentally, was also the driving force behind the EU-China Agreement on trade that they abide by the core labor norms of ILO."  She admits something in common regarding China.

〔即時新聞／綜合報導〕德國總理梅克爾（Angela Merkel）卸任前造訪華盛頓，與美國總統拜登（Joe Biden）會談。雙方談到中國問題時，都認為中國在多方面是競爭者，當中國破壞自由開放的社會時，兩國將會捍衛民主原則及普世權利。

拜登和梅克爾15日在白宮召開記者會，拜登表示，美德兩國都明白民主能夠在21世紀滿足人類需求的必要性，所以當看到中國或其他國家正在破壞自由開放的社會時，兩國將會捍衛民主原則及普世權利。

梅克爾表示，德美兩國都是捍衛自由民主社會與公民權利的國家，所以只要有人權不受保障的地方，兩國都會公開發聲，明確表達反對立場，也支持世界各國的領土完整性。梅克爾說，兩國還談到與中國合作和競爭的許多面向，例如在經濟領域、氣候變遷、軍事領域和安全領域。

梅克爾說，與中國貿易應該在公平競爭環境下進行，以便雙方都遵守相同規則，依循相同標準，這也就是歐中投資協定背後的驅動力，因為希望中國遵守國際勞工組織（ILO）的核心勞動規範。

此外，拜登被媒體問到香港議題時說，「香港的情況正在惡化，中國政府並未遵守香港議題處理方式上的承諾，這是一個警訊，反映香港可能發生的事。」
