What kind of report is this? Fake news?
Those two presidents talked about they will support a referendum, should it exist, on issue of Taiwan Independence next year.
No independence referendum proposal exists, let along launched. It is still prohibited under current law. It goes down for them to ask DPP dominated LY to amend the referendum law to legalize this initiative for them to take action.
Since no major DPP legislative leadership at the scene that day, I seriously doubt whether it can really move forward. And both presidents weren't uttering the word about "Republic of Taiwan" as told by my journalist friend who was there.
Why do they suddenly conclude that there is a ROT-establishment action coming out?
The combination of stereotyping and imagination are very dangerous for foreign affairs reporting.
