Former Japanese Prime Minister ASO Taro visited the Military Demonstration Cemetery to pay respects to the late President Lee Teng-hui on the day before the beginning of autumn (8/7) in the Lunar Calendar. He also visited the Service Center after the ceremony. The latter visit, though discreet, carried significant political significance.
Unfortunately, due to inadequate preparation in translation, when Aso asked where the five teachers from the initial school were buried, nobody knew. Aso referred to the Zhishanyan massacre of January 1, 1896, during which six Japanese teachers were killed and buried at Zhishanyan, Shihlin, Taipei. This incident is collectively known as the "Six Gentlemen Incident" (Zhishanyan Incident). The Zhishanyan School is the birthplace of the "modern Taiwanese education system" during the Japanese era.
Regrettably, when the host Colonel specifically mentioned General Hau Pei-tsun, the translator, on the contrary, mentioned his son, Hau Lung-pin, as the Mayor of Taipei City. The neglect stemmed from a lack of common knowledge of modern Taiwan history.
General Hau was not only a chief aide-de-camp to President Chiang Kai-shek but also a member of the Japanese Military Consultant Team to President CKS, known as the White Group (1949-1969), besides serving as the Premier of Taiwan. This oversight wasted the consideration of President Tsai Ing-wen's suggestion to bury President Lee Teng-hui on Mount Wuzhi, and to hold a national funeral for Hau Pei-tsun later.
Additionally, there was a minor mistake by Aso in believing that "Year 11 of Taisho" equated to the "first year of the Republic of China." The correct equivalence is "Year 1 of Taisho" to the "first year of the ROC."
Was the United Daily News the only one with full LIVE coverage? What about the Liberty Times, the largest Taiwan-friendly media? This is indeed regrettable.

日本前首相麻生太郎，立秋前一天（8/7）到國軍示範公墓弔祭李登輝前總統，並前往將士紀念館去參觀。後者之行，雖然不著痕跡，卻是非常重大的政治姿態。
可惜的是翻譯準備不足，當麻生說最初來的學校五位老師葬在哪裡時，無人知曉。其實，是1896年元旦六位日本人老師被殺害，葬在芝山岩，稱為六氏先生（芝山岩事件）。芝山岩學堂是日本時代「全台（現代）教育發祥地」。
可惜的當接待上校特別指出郝柏村上將時，翻譯反而提及其子郝龍斌也是台北市長。這是常識不足所致，因為不止郝柏村是蔣介石侍衛長，更受訓於日本軍事顧問團「白團」（班長？）。白白浪費了蔡英文勸家屬葬李登輝於五指山，並於稍後國葬郝柏村的苦心。
另外，有個插曲，麻生誤以為大正11年＝民國元年。正確是大正元年＝民國元年。這是小節。
