The “Plum Rain” （梅雨） in Chinese or “Tzuyu”（つゆ） in Japanese, is a special weather pattern in East Asia during Mid-May to Mid-July, depends on the location.
It derives from the Monsoon in the Indian Ocean, the wind blow across the Indochina peninsula, through South China Sea then reaches the West Pacific Rim and south China and YangTze River area. 
The main cause of the formation of the rainy season is the interaction between tropical cyclones, monsoons of Indian Ocean, and cold and warm air currents on the Pacific Ocean. When these factors converge in early summer, they form dense clouds, resulting in a series of rainfall phenomena.

梅雨季首道鋒面預估週末報到，氣象局長鄭明典今天（3日）上午PO出圖文表示，「萬事俱備，只欠西南風！」

中央氣象局1日表示，週六梅雨季首波鋒面報到，但由於性質並非滯留鋒，鋒面來得快去得快，並不能算是梅雨，若要解除南部旱象，仍需等5月底6月初報到的梅雨挹注。

鄭明典今上午貼出兩張圖表示，即將到來梅雨季的首波鋒面，具有相對完整的氣候特徵，但就是尚無西南季風或西南氣流的支持，所以降雨潛勢相對弱一些。他也指出，氣候平均圖中，左下方的低壓區目前尚未成形，但已在醞釀中。

根據氣象局資訊，今各地多雲到晴，東半部有零星短暫陣雨，南部近山區有機會出現36度左右高溫。週四、週五（4日、5日）各地仍為多雲到晴，週六（6日）鋒面接近，天氣轉不穩，下週日（7日）鋒面通過及東北季風增強，北部及東北部天氣轉涼，中部以北、東北部地區普遍有短暫陣雨，花東地區及南部山區有局部短暫陣雨。
