Japan to recognize Taiwan

Nakayama Yasuhide, former Japanese vice Minister of Self-Defense, held a launch party for his book “Politician Nakayama Yasuhide” on December 9 in Taipei.  The move seems to be testing public opinion on a particular issue.
He expressed in response to the question that Taiwan has all the conditions as a state; Japan may recognize Taiwan as a state in the future as long as Taiwan keeps on track with democracy.
Although foreign politicians have mentioned the topic before, it is the first time a Japanese politician has discussed it, which is unusual.
Taiwan, a part of Japan, is one of the residual territorial questions after the end of the Pacific War.  The SFPT did not resolve the question.  Taiwan was a military-occupied territory under the custodian power of SFPT until 1996 when it became a home-ruled nation.
Two states have the authority to make such a statement: the recognition of Taiwan, according to SFPT.  The first is Japan, the former administering authority or mother state of Taiwan; the second is the US, the Principal Occupying Power under the Treaty of Peace with Japan or the San Francisco Peace Treaty (SFPT) in 1951.
Let’s see what will happen if China keeps aggressively invading Taiwan.

日本前防衛副大臣中山泰秀訪台，針對日本立憲民主黨眾議員要求首相岸田文雄表態不支持台灣獨立一事，中山泰秀昨回應，台灣具有國家的條件，若台灣能繼續保持民主自由的體制，將來非常有可能成為日本所承認的國家。

中山泰秀昨舉辦記者會宣傳新書「政治家中山泰秀」時說，日本政府嚴密防範中國解放軍在南海、台海、西南諸島周邊擴張勢力，解放軍先前封鎖台灣演習時，有五枚飛彈落在日本經濟海域，他覺得這不是偶然、而是故意為之，對日本造成很大的威脅，也印證已故前日本首相安倍晉三所述「台灣有事就是日本有事」。

戰爭領域擴大 台須加強與美日合作

中山泰秀提醒，八十年前的戰爭聚焦陸海空領域，現則擴及太空、網路和電磁波等新的戰爭領域，如果中國藉此對台灣發動攻擊，是非常危險的。以烏俄戰爭為例，烏克蘭若沒有特斯拉執行長馬斯克星鏈計畫的幫忙，恐無法打贏戰爭，台灣也必須在這些層面加強與美、日、歐合作，全世界共同因應。

針對日本立憲民主黨眾議員的主張，中山泰秀表示，日本是一個民主自由的國家，很多政黨的發言不能代表政府，也不會影響政府決策，他反而認為，台灣是具有國家條件的。台灣在人口計算方式、國土和人民方面，都有一個國家的基本要件，「如果台灣能夠繼續保持民主自由的體制，將來有一天變成日本承認的國家，這是非常有可能的」。

至於沖繩知事玉城丹尼拒絕承認「台灣有事就是日本有事」，中山泰秀回應，日本的國防權屬於中央，不管地方首長怎麼講，不會發生任何影響。

中山泰秀也認為，烏俄戰爭不一定反映中國會循相同模式侵略台灣，這要觀察各方面條件。美國和日本會一起維護台海安全，全世界民主國家要如何保護台灣、不讓台灣淪為國際孤兒，這非常重要。
