【縛雞之見】英文拷到 G / D 找中文翻譯
Together with Terry Gou and the president of TSMC, Amanda Liu, the CEO of the Yonglin Charity Foundation, met with President Tsai on June 18th, wearing polo shirts and jeans. Though Liu expressed sorry and President Tsai said it does not matter, some commentators see it impolite. It is a rude move in a way; nevertheless, the jean means a lot more culturally.
The jeans were ordinary wear for the U.S workers because of their
anti-weariness before the 1960s. However, it became an icon of the spirit of
protest against the establishment or the counter culture movement, known as
Hippies. The jeans are so popular that many elites and pop singers wear them
even today. The most notable one who wore jeans was Steve Jobs, a founder of the Apple Co., with a black
turtleneck all the time. He wore them when he met with the Presidents. No one
saw it weird.
I do not know if Liu meant to protest for her boss Terry Gou because of
the delay of the Executive Yuan since he claimed to donate the vaccines on May
23rd. But the fact that Gou and Liu wore plastic masks might signify a barrier
between the donors and the government. People can see through the acrylic but
cannot get through it. The commentators who criticized the jeans forgot to
mention their cultural significance.
The era now is different from the old one.
