心平氣和：「國旗」被撤下，又不是第一次

 

As soon as President Tsai saw that the White House posted a tweet saying that the U.S. has shipped 40 million doses of vaccines, including Taiwan with its national flag, she responded and appreciated the generosity of the U.S. on her Twitter in no time. However, the White House removed the tweet quickly, saying that it was an “honest mistake,” according to Jen Psaki, the Spokesperson of the White House.

It is not the first time the U.S. government removed such web pages. 2018/02/15 in replying to the question of Senator Rubio about the removal of Taiwan’s national flag on the web page of the Department of State, Susan Thornton, then acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, stated that it was a mistake by the contractor which is responsible for maintaining the web pages. Taiwan, lacking statehood as it deserves, is very nervous, even paranoid about the symbols of Taiwan, including the national flag, nomenclature. It is why the people are so exciting seeing Taiwan Relations Act mentions Taiwan as a “foreign nation.” No wonder the CECC, Center of Epidemic Central Command, takes almost a year to admit a simple fact that a commercial contract between a private sector of Taiwan and ForsumPharma of China is private, nothing to do with the status quo of Taiwan, and will affect nothing.
Taiwanese will see things more accurately if they learn to be calm.

台灣缺乏應有的國家地位，對台灣的象徵，包括國旗，命名法，非常緊張，甚至偏執。這就是為什麼人們看到《台灣關係法》將台灣稱為「外國」時如此興奮的原因。難怪中央疫情指揮中心CECC用了將近一年的時間才承認一個簡單的事實，即台灣私營部門與中國復星間的商業契約是私人的，與台灣現狀無關，毫無影響。
