Ma xiaoguang, spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, China, expressed on September 1st that the Six Assurance and the related documents are “illegal and invalid.”

However, this message is posted in Xinhua’s Chinese version.  People cannot see it in its English version.

Ma was not aware of a fact that these documents coincide with the U.S.-PRC Joint Communiqué (1982), that is “The new situation which has emerged with regard to the Taiwan question also provides favorable conditions for the settlement of United States-China differences over United States arms sales to Taiwan.” And “In so stating, the United States acknowledges China’s consistent position regarding the thorough settlement of this issue.”

Weird is that the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council put two old addresses at the top of its webpage.

　　新华社北京9月1日电 国台办发言人马晓光1日应询表示，美方所谓的“六项保证”严重违背中美三个联合公报和美方对一个中国原则的承诺，是非法、无效的。我们对此坚决反对。民进党当局挟洋自重、倚美谋“独”无异饮鸩止渴，必将自食恶果。

　　有记者问，“美国在台协会”公布“解密电报”提及所谓“六项保证”，民进党当局对此表示感谢。请问有何评论？马晓光在答问时作上述表示。
