In response to questions from the press regarding the situation in Hong
Kong, European Union External Action Service spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic said:

-Violent clashes have taken place at the Chinese University in HK and
across Hong Kong last night. We monitor
the situation very closely. European
students are enrolled in the university. The far-reaching impact of the situation on
lives and livelihoods in the territory makes a credible and swift solution to
the unrest imperative.

-It is crucial that all sides exercise restraint. A solution should be found through genuine
dialogue, reconciliation and community engagement. All stakeholders must renounce violence and
engage constructively in de-escalation efforts.

-A comprehensive inquiry into the violence, use of force and the root

-Every effort needs to be made to ensure that the District Council
elections on 24th November proceed as planned. This will send an important signal about the

-The EU attaches great importance to the high degree of autonomy vested

-The EU has close commercial, cultural and people-to-people ties with

China's embassy in Paris has slammed the European Union for what it
called its "criminal" support of Hong Kong protesters and its
criticism of the police clampdown.
中國駐巴黎大使館抨擊歐盟「犯罪般的」支持香港示威者,以及歐盟也批評了警察鎮壓。
Accusing the EU of having "publicly glorified the abuses of
rioters", the embassy on Monday labelled the EU's call for de-escalation
"criminal and very dangerous", affirming police's right to
self-determination.
週一,使館指責歐盟「公開讚揚了騷亂者的虐待」,稱歐盟要求降溫是「犯罪和非常危險的」,反而肯定了警察自行判斷的權利。
