Time: 10:35am
Cities have become the
world's dominant demographic and economic clusters, and we are seeing the rise
of "megacities". Increased urbanisation, rising demand for resources
and climate change will inhibit many cities' potential to be engines of
progress and prosperity. How should urban, water, environment and transport
management evolve to keep pace with urbanisation? At the Opening Plenary
session, high-level speakers from government, international organisations, and
industry sectors will share insights on cross-disciplinary policies, management
strategies, and solutions.

World Cities Summit Plenary Session
Is Collaboration the Panacea for Liveable and
Sustainable Cities of the Future?
Date: Tuesday, 10th July 2018
Time: 1:45pm-3:00pm
Time: 1:45pm-3:00pm
The WCS Plenary rounds
off discussions over two days. It will pull together the insights and best
practices, with a focus on embracing the future through innovation and
collaboration. Cities are the sources and centres of innovation. Better
collaboration between people-public-private is key to provide an enabling
digital environment to support growth without stifling innovation and ensure
that people are not left behind amidst the fast pace of globalisation and
urbanisation. While challenges from social unrest, environmental deterioration,
and economic stagnation are inevitable, city leaders can lead and affect real
changes through good urban governance, prudent financing approaches and
piloting of innovations.

Session 1: What should Mayors do to Embrace and
Capitalise on Disruptive Innovations?
This session will
discuss key governance instruments that mayors can use to transform disruptive
innovations into opportunities that will help advance the development of
cities. It will explore how cities can better prepare themselves to embrace
innovation, adapt to new technologies, and successfully navigate disruptive
business models to counter new challenges.

Session 2: No Investment, No Cities - What Can
Mayors Do to Attract Financing for Infrastructure Projects?
This session will look
at how the increasing involvement of the private sector in infrastructure
projects has resulted in less direct supervision or ownership by local
governments. In the quest for funds through alternative models of financing and
investment, are mayors losing control over how cities should be developed? Will
governance be increasingly critical to ensure that the public interest and
project longevity are not compromised at the expense of short-term commercial
gains?

http://www.worldcitiessummit.com.sg/social-resilience-critical-component-liveable-and-sustainable-city
H.E. Dr. Eric Chu
Mayor, New Taipei City
Eric Chu
Eric Liluan Chu
https://www.clc.gov.sg/docs/default-source/lecture-posters/clc-lecture-2018-07-10-age-friendly-cities.pdf

World Cities Summit Thematic Tracks
Date: 10 July 2018, Tuesday
Time: Session 1: 9:00am – 10:30am
Session 2: 11:00am – 12:30pm
Session:
Session 1: What does it take to be an Environmentally and Economically Resilient City?
Session 2: Social Resilience – A Critical Component of a Liveable and Sustainable City?
http://www.worldcitiessummit.com.sg/resilience
H.E. Dr. Eric Chu
Mayor, New Taipei City
The Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) 與 the Seoul Institute (SI) 聯合舉辦的活動:
https://www.clc.gov.sg/docs/default-source/lecture-posters/clc-lecture-2018-07-10-age-friendly-cities.pdf
由這個PDF最上方中央的英文字 "This is a co-located event of:" 與 World Cities Summit Logo
http://news.ltn.com.tw/news/politics/breakingnews/2483915
http://news.ltn.com.tw/news/politics/breakingnews/2485271
