As the VIP guest from the US, Marie Royce, the Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs, participated the dedication ceremony amid her two weeks round trips to Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam and S. Korea.

Half month later, UNC and USFK opened new headquarters building at U.S. Army Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek metropolitan areas, some 50 kilometers south to Seoul, the latest move of the $10.7 billion transformation and relocation effort signifies the majority of USFK forces moving out of Seoul.  There were dignitaries from the seventeen sending states to the United Nations Command.

On the very same day, the US Senate confirmed Harry Harris, retired commander of USPACOM, who stressed the US military readiness, the US ambassador to South Korea.

These incidents pretty much like a slow motion pictures, along with US Secretary of Defense James Mattis visited China, S. Korea and Japan.  Secretary Mattis made remarks in his visits to S. Korea and Japan, except in China.

駐韓美軍基地「韓福瑞營區」的司令部大樓今天正式啟用，駐韓美軍司令部和聯合國部隊司令部將於年底前南遷至平澤，位於首爾龍山的美軍基地，在運作73年後正式畫上句點。

南韓聯合新聞通訊社報導，駐韓美軍司令部的新主建築物為地上4層，副建物為地上2層，建築面積達2.4萬平方公尺。

此外，韓美聯合司令部將在年底前，遷往位於首爾龍山南韓國防部園區內的獨立大樓。

駐韓美軍司令部今天在韓福瑞營區舉行開館儀式，南韓國防部長官宋永武、韓美聯合司令部司令布魯克斯（Vincent Brooks）等300多人出席。

南韓總統文在寅在青瓦台安保室第一次長李尚澈代讀的賀詞中表示，韓美同盟不僅是維護半島和平與穩定的基石，還為南韓實現民主化、經濟蓬勃提供有力後盾。希望駐韓美軍開啟「平澤時代」後，韓美同盟進一步鞏固。

宋永武表示，半島及東北亞局勢由冷戰對立轉變為和平共處時代，主要歸功於韓美同盟共克難關，取得勝利。駐韓美軍遷至平澤後，美軍士兵將扮演全新角色，為實現東北亞及世界和平穩定做出貢獻。

布魯克斯表示，搬遷具有歷史象徵意義。這是韓美聯合司令部首次在地理位置上，與駐韓美軍司令部和聯合國部隊司令部分離。韓美同盟關係相當牢固，不會受影響。

1945年9月，美軍解除殖民統治朝鮮半島的武裝日軍，將駐紮在日本沖繩的第24軍團第7師遷至南韓，軍團司令部設在位於首爾市的龍山基地。

1950年韓戰爆發，美軍以聯合國部隊為名參戰。1957年7月，駐韓美軍司令部正式成立。

2003年，時任南韓總統的盧武鉉和美國總統小布希（George W. Bush）達成協議，加速駐韓美軍搬遷，將分散於南韓各地的基地集中在朝鮮半島中部。

平澤基地面積為1467.7萬平方公尺，內有513棟建築，包括學校、商店等設施。
