STATEMENT
by the Spokesperson of
EU High Representative Catherine Ashton on the visit of Prime
Minister Abe to Yasukuni Shrine
The spokesperson of Catherine
Ashton , High Representative of the
Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the
Commission, issued the following statement today:
"The High Representative took note
of the visit by Prime Minister Shinzo
Abe to the Yasukuni Shrine in
Tokyo on December 26. This action is not conducive to lowering
tensions in the region or to improving relations with Japan's
neighbours, especially China and Republic of Korea.
All countries in the region have reaffirmed their commitment to peace and
stability in recent months. The EU has consistently emphasised the need to
build on this by handling disputes with careful diplomacy and by refraining
from actions which can raise tensions. The EU urges the countries involved to build positive and constructive ties
with their neighbours that will bolster confidence, defuse tensions and assure
the long term stability of the region."
Since downing them round with a gulp of water because my mother forced me to eat her overcooked Brussels sprouts, I always abhorred the thought of them. Until, while living in Japan, I tasted them lightly stirred over and served with a generous dollop of oyster sauce in a Chuka ryori joint in Kunitachi, Tokyo. It was a mind-boggling revelation.
回覆刪除Catherine Ashton's statement makes me need to barf. It smells so much like those overcooked brussels sprout that I assimilated to my own turd. Thanks to you for the links. Those morons are poised to get an earful.
The nonsensical, hypocritical EU and its members (in particular, France and Germany) should lead by example and take actions "conducive to lowering tensions in the region" by stopping arms sale to China.
回覆刪除The shameless France even went for a joint navy military exercise with China in East China Sea on March 16, 2004, to help China intimidate the Taiwanese who were voting their president on March 20, 2004.
