The governing authority covered up important information and tried hard in insignificant areas to cover up their mistakes.

有關缺雞蛋的現象，政府原先是否認的，且認為是輿論操作的結果。後來僅承認到有輕微缺蛋，所以進口補足。現在則稱有囤積現象。問題是，生鮮物品，囤積者不見得有利。

國內雞蛋產量仍嚴重不足，外傳產地和批發價恐再飆漲，不過蛋價委員會和農委會昨都表示，短期內不會再漲。但蛋價暫不漲並非因供需恢復，而是部分蛋商蛋農近來頻私下協議加價搶蛋，不僅導致公定價像是參考用，也致蛋價混亂，短期內因而無漲價打算。

據台灣蛋雞事業產銷督導委員會三月九日報表，全台雞蛋生產皆嚴重不足，報表還載明「供應依然不足，短期內仍無法恢復」，其中北區雞蛋產地價每台斤四十六點七五元，比四十五點五的全國公定價還貴。不過蛋價今起未再續漲。

農委會畜牧處副處長江文全說，蛋商、蛋農每二周的周日都會交換資訊，目前沒決定漲價，農委會予以尊重。

中華民國蛋價委員會執行長陳進丁解釋，北區蛋價因離產地遠、運輸成本高，因此雞蛋產地價比其他區域都高；另因雞蛋產量仍不足，蛋價因部分蛋農及蛋商私下加碼搶購而有波動，且該情況已持續很長一段時間，導致蛋價混亂，因此「短期內不會再漲價」。

中華民國蛋品行銷發展協會理事長高傳謨則指出，官方公布的產地價及批發價「根本是參考用」，由於目前雞蛋產能嚴重不足，大家都想盡辦法想取得到雞蛋，因此會私下加價交易，最後就是惡性競爭。江文全說，買賣基於雙方合意，是市場機制，但應僅是個案。

行政院長陳建仁說，本周將有二百萬顆雞蛋進口，行政院物價聯合稽查小組也已擴大對蛋價的市場機制查核，籲大眾共體時艱，不要囤積雞蛋。

農委會主委陳吉仲說，中南部氣溫回穩，加上禽流感獲控制，蛋中雞、養雞場數量增，國內雞蛋產能將谷底回升；目前雞蛋產地價每台斤四十五點五元，資訊透明，若有刻意哄抬價格，公平會、消保會都會積極處理。
