The two
leaders reaffirmed the importance of the rules-based international order and
adherence to international rules and norms, including those of freedom of
navigation and overflight. They further expressed their intent to work together
for that purpose. Additionally, the Minister and the Secretary
acknowledged the importance of preserving peace and
stability in the Taiwan Strait, as reflected in the May 2021 Joint Statement between President Biden
and President Moon. They also reaffirmed
support for Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) centrality and the
ASEAN-led regional architecture.
