【縛雞之見】
As to my memory, though the I. O. C. and “us” reached an agreement, the
“Agreement between the International Olympic Committee, Lausanne and the
Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee, Taipei,” in 1981, which entitled the “Chinese
Taipei” to “us.” However, the committee also decided another point that the order
of countries refers to group T, NOT group C.
It becomes a rule and practice ever since.
The one and the only
exception was the Olympic Games 2008.
The host of Beijing put China, Hong Kong, China, Macao, China as a group and
insert the Central African Republic in between China and Chinese Taipei.
Tokyo 2020 changed the order of countries from English alphabets to Japanese
Katakana. Chinese
Taipei designates to the TA group, followed by TI (Chi) group, and China is one
of the TI (Chi) groups.
The good news is that Chinese Taipei came before China, while the not-that-bad
news was that it is still neighboring to China than
that of the C and T category before.
TA group: 104-Thailand, 105-South Korea, 106-Chinese Taipei, 107-Tajikistan,
108-Tanzania,
TI (Chi) group: 109-Czech Republic, 110-Chad, 111-Central African Republic,
112-China (with Hong Kong and Macao) 113-Tunisia, 114-Chile
The change of order above thus reflects an inclination that the Japanese dislike China than they prefer Taiwan more.
