Douglas Hsu, Entrepreneur and the Chairperson of the Far Eastern Group revealed today that he planned to purchase Covid-19 vaccines the last January.  Hsu thought that he could get the vaccines easily and quickly for his hospital and others since he knows and has investment relations with some German big guys.  However, the Taiwan authority told him that it is not his business.  Despite being an influential supporter of domestic politicians, Hsu chose to follow the intention and stand aside.  

The fascinating part is Hsu chose to expose the inside story in the interview after the General Meeting of shareholders of U-Min Marine, a corporation of the Far Eastern Group.  He is a man with a steady personality, which will never express something not considerate in advance.
 Seeing the unpleasant experience of Terry Gou and TSMC in the donation of the vaccines, Hsu spoke out loud for his friends.

散裝航商裕民 (2606-TW) 今 (13) 日召開股東常會，由董事長徐旭東親自主持，被問及台積電 (2330-TW) 和永齡基金會購買疫苗成功一事，徐旭東自曝，「實際上我最早就申請要買德國疫苗，早在年初就準備要買，他們也願意賣，但政府回答這是政府的事情輪不到你」，如果要繼續做當然是可以。

徐旭東表示，「實際上我早在年初就申請準備要買，因為我們有醫院，那時候很單純去問政府，政府回答我『輪不到你』，所以就決定當乖寶寶沒有繼續做，敏感的東西還是應該政府做」。

徐旭東強調，原本年初即屬意購買德國疫苗，原因在於有和三個德國大企業有合資關係，「我們了解德國人，當然買的到，他們也願意賣我們」。

同時，徐旭東也語帶保留表示，疫苗要出高價才買得到，是比較敏感的事情，很有趣也講不完。

另外，由於遠東集團的百貨事業受到疫情衝擊，徐旭東說，所有防疫流程都是遵照法令在走，但疫情變化大，同時在努力 e 化中。
