A survey vessel of the Royal Navy HMS Enterprise (H88) sailed through Taiwan Strait on December 7th. 

HMS Enterprise has the ability below:

• Oceanographic and hydrographic surveys – examining and mapping the seafloor.
• Ensuring safe navigation on and under the water.
• Acting as ‘mothership’ for Mine Counter-Measure Vessels – engineers and sailors are trained and equipped to support these specialist ships in their duties.

According to the news report, the course, which HMS Enterprise took, was between Kinmen and the Penghu, the west of the Halfway-Line between Taiwan and China.

The move, besides that of the U.S., France, Canada, signifies that the peace of Taiwan Strait is a grave concern of NATO.

Though Beijing claimed that Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea its inherent waters, the international community does not buy it.

國防部今天證實並表示，英國海軍測量船「企業號」（H88），由南向北航經台灣海峽，國軍全程嚴密掌握台灣周邊海、空域動態，期間並無異狀。

媒體稍早報導，英國海軍測量船企業號今天經過金門外海，通行台灣海峽。

國防部發布新聞稿證實，一艘英籍測量船，今天由南向北航經台灣海峽。國防部表示，國軍依規定運用聯合情監偵，全程嚴密掌握台灣周邊海、空域動態，維護區域和平與穩定，期間並無異狀，請民眾放心。（編輯：楊玫寧）1081207
