美國「卡爾文森號」（USS Carl Vinson）航空母艦戰鬥群將於四日啟程前往西太平洋部署，很有可能與中國「遼寧號」航空母艦戰鬥群遭遇。
美國《福斯》（Fox）報導，最近「老布希號」航空母艦編隊在美國北卡羅來納州海岸40英里處，每天訓練14小時，很少有休息的時間。航空母艦2號攻擊艦少將指揮官懷特塞爾（Kenneth Whitesell）表示，這相當於軍隊的春季訓練，接下來將與真正的軍隊作戰。他還說，除了打擊伊斯蘭國（Islamic State，IS）外，如果有必要，船員們還要準備應付俄羅斯和中國。
USS John C. Stennis
(CVN 74) Sailors conducted deck landing qualifications (DLQ) Dec. 18 with the
Washington National Guard and the U.S. Coast Guard.
A National Guard
CH-47 Chinook and a U.S. Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin performed DLQs on the flight
deck of John C. Stennis while the ship transited the Puget Sound.
The US Navy will
deploy a third Nimitz-class supercarrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) Strike Group
in Asia to add to the fleet of two carriers already patrolling the South China
Sea.
Comprising 7,500
sailors and airmen attached to a wide range of squadrons under Carrier Air Wing
2, the third Carrier Strike Group will be accompanied by the Ticonderoga-class
cruiser USS Lake Champlain (CG-57) and the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile
destroyer USS Wayne E Meyer (DDG-108).
Three warships will
be later joined by another guided missile destroyer, the USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112),
reported China Topix.
The supercarrier
will join the Carrier Strike Groups of the aircraft carriers, which are the USS
Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) from the US Navy Seventh Fleet and the USS John C
Stennis (CVCN-74) from the navy’s Third Fleet.
The carrier will
have the capability to carry a maximum of 90 aircraft, most of which include
McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 strike fighters.
