Talisman Saber 15: Japan to join US, Australia war games

“Japan will join a major US-Australian military exercise for the first time in a sign of growing security links between the three countries as tensions fester over China's island building in the South China Sea.

While only 40 Japanese officers and soldiers will take part in drills involving 30,000 US and Australian troops in early July, experts said the move showed how Washington wanted to foster cooperation among its security allies in Asia,” the FB of Talisman Saber 15 remarked as such.  The words that clearly aims at China will definitely annoy irritable Beijing.  But the US and Australia do not care, at all.

Amid the journey of the USS George Washington (CVN 73) back to the San Diego for undergoing a mid-life refueling complex overhaul (RICOH), she will attend the Talisman Saber 15 near Australia.  GW will participate another exercise of an historic "3-carrier hull swap" with USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71).  It could be seen as a solid move of “Asia rebalance.”

40 Japanese Self Defense Forces personnel will join the Talisman Saber 15 in early July, which might be the consequence of Beijing’s fast island building in South China Sea as well as Japan’s embracing the collective self-defense rights.

If China can build islands, so can the US and all other countries.  It is not a problem of technology, but a matter of responsibility. 

The party who insists the responsibility may be criticized as weak.  However, if all parties build their own islands at will, there will be no order in the international community and all will be suffered from this.

假使中國可以造島，美國當然也可以，但國際秩序就亂了。

這就是負責與不負責的關鍵——負責任的一方，常會被批評為懦弱、不勇敢。
